If you are a fan of NBC’s hit weight loss show The Biggest Loser, and who isn’t, then you have probably seen those monitors they wear around their upper arms. That gadget is called the GoWear fit Lifestyle and Calorie Management System and it can help you get healthy (without Jillian and Bob yelling at you!)
The armband is a small computer that measures a variety of physical characteristics, including motion, steps, galvanic skin response, skin temperature, and heat flux. It also measure sleep duration and efficiency. Now what they don’t show you on The Biggest Loser is that this monitor hooks up to your computer where there’s a program to keep track of everything:
The program is a complete activity manager, tracking your caloric intake, calories burned (the whole day, doing everything you do during the day, not just while you’re exercising!), physical activity and sleep. It also features tools that allow you to set goals, record your weight and waist circumference, assess your average daily caloric intake, print reports for later review, and monitor your body’s progress over time. There’s a lot more to it than I can write about here, so go over to Amazon to check it out if you’re interested- the reviews are overwhelmingly positive there too. Costs about $180.
