Working Piano Stairs Attract Attention

Posted by: Jeff In: Miscellaneous

The video above shows what happens when a staircase is converted into a working piano where each step is a different piano key that makes a sound when you step on it. Surprisingly stair usage (compared to the usage of the escalator right next to the flight of stairs) increased significantly- by two thirds. Here in NYC, we use another method to get people to use the stairs in the subway- just leave the escalators sitting there broken (or entomb them in a box instead of fixing them, lol Union Square).

These stairs are awesome and it increased foot traffic by 66%? We need to put these in every transit area in the U.S. to get some exercise.
