A Penn State engineering team won their regional Rube Goldberg machine contest with an entry based upon Super Mario Bros. The contest involved creating unnecessarily complex machines to perform simple tasks. In this case they were required to build a machine that changes out a lightbulb using 20 steps or more. The team unfortunately did not win the nationals at Purdue Univ., losing out St. Olaf College’s mad scientist machine. I can’t find any video of the Super Mario machine, please drop a URL in the comments if you find one! Please!
