There are some truly strange iPhone cases out there but this one is a whole new level of bizarre. It’s made from a washed up giant marine isopod (a deep sea crustacean related to shrimp and crabs). The Toba Aquarium in Japan made 1000 of these limited edition phone cases from the exo-skeleton of the bug-looking sea creature.
The cases sold for just $29 each, which wouldn’t be notable at all except that they cost $72 to make each. How do they make their money? Volume. You probably wouldn’t have to worry about anyone walking off with your phone if you left it lying around in the isopod case. Weird weird stuff. (via rocketnews)
