You insert the alarm’s probe into the hose connecting your dryer to the outside vent (no tools required). Sensors detect whether or not the vent is blocked with lint by detecting the level of air pressure moving through the vent. The 5 levels of LEDs on the unit tell you how blocked your vent is and a 90db alarm sounds if it’s critical. Blocked vents can cause fires and also decreased efficiency in your dryer as it becomes harder for it to get rid of hot moist air. This is the type of thing that should come standard on all dryers but does not so a dedicated gadget like this exists.
