Using Sugru to Mod a Camera Into a Kid-Friendly Drop-Proof Camera

Kids have the amazing ability to manage to drop anything of value they are tasked with holding. While that’s ok with plastic kid’s toys, that’s not so good with things like expensive gadgets. So what can you do? As one Instructable shows us, put Sugru all over the camera to protect it! Sugru is a moldable silicon that hardens up once it’s bonded in place and cured but still retains some flexibility. You might remember Sugru from the still awesome OMG They Killed Kenny Doorstop. So how well does this work to kid-proof a digital camera? Watch the video to see the Sugru-enhanced camera bouncing along happily.

Seems like a pretty good idea- I don’t know how well the camera can take all those vibrations and bounces but there definitely won’t be any external physical damage to the lens, screen or buttons. And it certainly LOOKS more kid-friendly now. Nice hack.
