Halloween Pumpkin with Scrolling LED Matrix Display

The pumpkin is going high tech. Not content to just have a regular boring ol’ jack-o-lantern sitting on his porch, one enterprising hacker decided to insert a 70 LED scrolling matrix display in his pumpkin. And all along I thought my pumpkin was impressive because I carved out eyebrows.

Mike Szczys from Hack a Day created this bad boy and it’s able to display any message he wants. Personally I’d go with something like “85 Oak St has the good candy” or “192 Elm is giving out raisins” or “help I’m trapped in an electronic pumpkin sign factory”, messages that people can really use in their Halloween trick-or-treating adventures rather than simply Happy Halloween but that’s his choice. Let’s roll the videotape..
