Solar Powered Robotic Pool Skimmer is a Green Way to Remove Greens from Your Ool

When you have an ool in your backyard (that’s right, we don’t swim in your toilet, so there’s no P in our pool), you’ve got to keep the surface clean or you’ll end up with leaves, grass, bugs, and other nasties in your hair and on your body. The Solar Powered Pool Skimmer lets you keep your swimming pool clean in an eco-friendly way. Not only that, this skimmer is smarter than a lot of people I know.

A pair of solar panels on the top of the skimmer collect the sun’s energy and store it in a rechargeable NiMH battery. The skimmer is propelled by two paddlewheels and has a quartet of wheels on the side panels so it can turn and roam along the pool’s walls. When the batteries start to get low, an internal microprocessor has the skimmer move about the pool until it can find a sunnier spot to collect more solar power before resuming the cleaning.

At night and when it’s cloudy, the skimmer slows down its speed to conserve energy while still cleaning the pool. If the skimmer gets clogged, it automatically switches to reverse to clear the clog. Inside the skimmer are two 3″ chlorine tablets that slowly dissolve in the water as the skimmer operates. The pool skimmer can operate for 8 hours on a full charge and measures 6 1/4″ H x 20″ W x 23″ L.

Now the Solar Powered Pool Skimmer is a bit expensive but if you want a skimmer that require almost no maintenance and is working constantly, this could be well worth it.

  1. This is a waste of resources and money. I have always used a product called Kreepy Krawly that works from the normal vacuum of the poo pump. It cleans the bottom sides, and everything except the topmost step. It has only one moving part and can be rebuilt endlessly. I have used the same one for over 5 years with no service at all. I’ve even had one stolen, they were so popular.

  2. Dumbest product ever…besides the resources that go into it…what is the point? its a skimmer…haven’t you heard of a net…on a pole…with a person attached to it…skim your pool by hand you lazy slags.
