The Verizon Hub Phone would have been an awesome phone a few years ago. The phone attaches to your DSL line and via it’s 7 inch touchscreen you can use all sorts of widgets to get daily tidbits of information such as the weather, calendar, email, visual voicemail, etc. The phone costs $200 and will have a $35 per month charge. The screen looks great, the phone looks modern, so what’s the problem? The problem is that it’s just as expensive as a cell phone and it doesn’t do anything your smartphone can’t handle. And it’s stuck on your desk. It’s basically a large screen cell phone that has to stay in one spot. I can’t see the Hub phone taking off.

I can see CEO’s with this on their desk. It’s slick and cool, the price just needs to come down a bit for it to have a shot to really succeed.
