Early man invented the wheel and discovered fire. But it took until 2009 for man to combine the wheel and fire into one living room accessory. Fueled by ethanol, this round fireplace isn’t technically supposed to be rolling around while it’s lit but I don’t see anything to stop it from moving about setting your living into a blazing inferno of death. Sometimes it’s hip to be square (and much safer).

Flat screens are soooo 2008 buddy. The new way to get the full immersive television experience is round. It’s a dome. T.O.O.B promises to give you a full IMAX-like 3D experience by taking your standard video signal and projecting it onto a dome of a screen that surrounds your peripheral vision.
Toob, which stands for Think out of the Box, is a 3 foot by 6 foot rounded screen. It looks like you have to get pretty close to get the full effect of the curved screen but not to worry, they also make an inflatable full igloo dome size version you can crawl inside.

Toobs are available for sale or around $1400 and up or rental via their website.

Art Lebedev has come up with another great technology design concept- this time it’s called Navigarius and it turns the commonplace GPS navigation unit into a work of art. It’s simply a rounded GPS unit. But boy do those curves make it one sexy gadget. Dare I say, sexiest GPS unit design ever? It’s just a conceptual drawing right now, but many of Art’s concepts have actually been produced so we’ll see if someone takes him up on this. I’d buy it just based on looks alone, screw functionality, this thing looks HOT.

The Icon Socket is an attractively designed round power strip with a giant plug logo on the front. It can accept up to four devices plugged in (2 pronged only though- none of your fancy 3 pronged gizmos need apply) at once. The Icon Socket has it’s own 7 foot long power cord to plug in, so it’s ideal if you need to have a power strip exposed on your floor or desk frequently and want a good looking alternative to the ugly bulky standard power strip.

The back of the Icon Socket has a magnet, so you can attach it to the wall or any magnetic surface like a steel desk or fridge. Why you’d need a power strip on your fridge, I don’t know, but you could do it that’s what’s important here. It comes in white, black, or gray and costs 3000 yen (about $30). Nice.
