Our always on the ball WTF Department has brought to our attention an eco-friendly shopping bag that converts to a safety helmet. It’s from Japan (where else?) and it’s called “The Grappa“. The bottom of the bag has a helmet hardened plastic piece in there to protect your head against falling objects such as in an earthquake or food fight. Here’s a five step instructional diagram to show you how to place a bag on your head:

For your own safety, we highly recommend that you remove any items you already have in the bag before placing on your head. You’re welcome. This bag comes in white or black, tote or drawstring. So get out your $45, yes not a typo that says forty five dollars and buy one to save your noggin.

Clearly there is no place more appropriate to store your earphones than on a pair of disembodied ears. The Ear Headphone Cable Tidy will keep your headphones from getting tangled up while keeping those earbuds safely tucked away in a pair of silicone ears. One the one hand, it does keep the earbuds from dangling around freely like other cord wraps. On the other hand, it’s creepy as all hell. If you’re one of the eighteen people left on Earth who still actually use a pen and paper to write things down, you know that sometimes you make a mistake and need a little white-out. Why you would want your correction tape/liquid paper/white out/whatever shaped like mayo and ketchup containers, we have no idea. But it is considered, as they say in Japan, kawaii (cute). Or as we say here, weird.

Now you can really play jazz when you do your “jazz fingers”. The Japanese Wrist-Mounted Finger Piano literally puts a musical instrument at your fingertips. Get those fingers moving and play; each finger plays a different note plus there’s three more on the wrist unit. That’s a full octave (or so I’ve been told).

You can set the volume to one of three levels and there’s three different sound banks to change it to the types of sounds you like: piano, bells, and cat. Yep, cat. It’s not “why would I want an instrument that sounds like a cat?”, it’s “why wouldn’t I?” And what would happen if you played a real piano with the Finger Piano on at the same time?

Typically we find RC vehicles made in scale models of fast moving cars or cool trucks or other neat vehicles. What we find unusual are RC toys for things that DON’T EVEN HAVE AN ENGINE like the Shopping Cart RC. Sure it’s probably pretty neat to be able to load up the cart with a few things and zoom it around the room but I’m just a grumpy old man and not a kid, so what do I know? I do know that it’s a 1/19 scale and it’s imported from Japan, where maybe they really do have motorized shopping carts.

Schrödinger’s Cat Executive Decision Maker

Sometimes you need a little help making important decisions. Don’t worry, science is here to help. It’s the Schrödinger’s Cat Executive Decision Maker. Put it on your desk and ask it a yes or no question. If the cat inside, who we will name “Poster Nutbag” for no real reason, appears alive, it’s a yes. If Poster is dead, Poster’s so dead, it’s a no. How about a goldfish?

The video above demonstrates. Now you’re probably scratching your head thinking about who Schrödinger’s Cat was. Click the link for the full explanation but basically it’s a paradox where since we don’t know if the cat inside the box is alive or dead, it is theoretically both alive and dead to the observer. Or something like that.

What you need to know is that when you open the door Poster will be alive or dead, randomly which will answer all your important executive decisions like “should I fire him or not?”. And if Poster is dead, he was likely killed by a vicious bulldog who we will call Harpua. Or he got hit by a comet. Or he was sucked into the depths of hell by an evil vibration of death. Either way you should probably get a goldfish instead. Oh, you want a dog?

Craziest Gadgets is all for equality but do we really need a doll showing what Beetlejuice (or Betelgeuse for your hardcore Tim Burton fans) would look like as a woman? Apparently yes we do. And if just seeing what it would look like isn’t enough to satisfy your curiosity, then you can shell out $223 and buy yourself the Beetlejuice Ms. Beetlejuice Tonner Doll for your home collection. It is 16 inches high and limited to just 500 pieces. I’m having a hard time believing that 500 people will actually be interested in it at this price, but what do I know?

Rifle Handle Umbrella

I’m not sure how wise it is to walk around with what looks like a rifle on your back, but if it keeps the rain off your head until the cops come then hey go for it. The Rifle Handle Umbrella has a handle that looks like a rifle. The tip of umbrella also looks like the barrel of a gun.

The whole thing looks like you’re hiding a gun in a bag of sorts. It doesn’t really shoot of course, so don’t confuse it with real umbrella weapons when you’re getting ready to go out on the town on a rainy night.
