Cardboard Headphones with Cotton Ball Speakers

cardboard headphones
Move over Beats by Dre, there’s a new headphone in town. Much cheaper (and cheaper looking). This DIY jobber is made from a pair of prepared dc-motors, cotton balls, and some cardboard boxes. They don’t actually play “music” exactly but the two motors make the cotton balls vibrate into the box, creating an effect that sounds like someone is playing drums on your head. Check out this brief demo video:

To be honest, I’ve heard worse sound from some headphones and worse music from some bands on the radio. This might just drive you a little crazy, which would be fine since you’ll already look crazy wearing them. Designed by Janis Weidner for Studio Zimoun. (via designboom)
