Combing the cool design skills of Artemis Lebedev with the retro-geekiness of Space Invaders should result in something spectacularly awesome but instead we get Art Ledebev’s Space Invaders Playing Cards. While they are pretty sweet as far as playing cards go, I was hoping for something a bit more with this collaboration.

He did replace the royal characters with Space Invader characters. And the fonts are 8 bit pixelated. They’re cool but still… playing cards. An $18 set at that.

The box is pretty cool with a little scene on the front that sort of looks like the Space Invaders gameplay. Interestingly they actually used the old MS-Dos color scheme for the packaging.
