The video above shows how one enterprising parent created a DIY automatic baby rocker. He took one of the rocking baby car seats and attached it with a string to his computer’s CD Rom drive. Then, and here’s where the real genius part comes in, he programmed the Linux computer to continuously open and close the CD Rom drive, thus rocking the baby endlessly. Simple yet apparently effective since that baby in the video looks to be sleeping to me. Mission successful.
