Usually here at Craziest Gadgets we applaud the do-it-yourself spirit and ingenuity to come up with creative solutions to problems and situations. But sometimes we find things that can only be described as “seriously ghetto”. Let’s say you’re a hardworking businessman (or woman) and you have some level of success. You own a car with cupholders. You own a fine Dell laptop computer. Perhaps either or both could be described as “late models”. So do you buy a nice laptop holder for doing work on the road?
Hell to the NO! You, in what could only be described as “jimmy-rigging”, make a ghetto laptop holder using some PVC piping from Home Depot and a piece of plywood. The contraption looks like your laptop has major drainage issues (or perhaps HAD major drainage issues that you fixed with your advanced DIYing). Never before have the worlds of automotive engineering, plumbing, and technology collided in such a cohesive manner. And may they never again collide. Please no. Never again.

Here’s another very strange USB flash drive from Japan. This cute panda flash drive is made to resemble a dorayaki which is a Japanese food which is sort of like a pair of spongecake-like pancakes surrounding a filling of sweet red bean paste. Sort of like a jelly donut I guess? I’ve never had one.
Apparently the panda is a popular and common shape for dorayaki. What’s interesting about this drive is the level of detail that went into it- when you pop the head off (YES! my favorite method of accessing data from animal shaped flash drives! YES!) you will notice the highly detailed interior of the cake showing the bean filling.
I know that personally I ALWAYS demand extreme realism for the interior of my food/animal shaped data storage devices and you should accept nothing less either. I’m definitely going to have to be on the lookout for dorayaki at my local Japanese shops, it sounds delicious.

There hasn’t been much innovation in the world of pencils since the eraser was added on. Sure there’s the mechanical pencil, but pencil purists like myself don’t really count those as true pencils. They are bastardizations of the ultimate writing instrument (you can’t dispute it, quill pen fans, don’t even try). Well designer Alexander Hulme has made a simple change to the pencil that just might change the way we think about pencils.
By adding a simple notch into a pencil, he has changed the entire dynamic of pencil storage. Now you can simply clip a pencil onto your shirt pocket, allowing easy access to the writing tool. Pocketability is no longer solely the domain of the pen. It’s a whole new world out there. Yes, I’m sure some wood shop teachers and whittlers out there have made their own versions of this before and you could too, unless you’re one of those (gasp) pen people. Argh.
