Rollerblade Rollercoaster is Really Radically Ridiculous

Chalk this one up as another thing you’ll never catch me doing. Dirk Auer (or as I call him- the world’s craziest man) loves his in-line skates- in fact he holds the world speed record at 190 mph after being dragged by a Porsche. So let’s make that two things you’ll never catch me doing. Well now Dirk has gone ahead and rollerbladed a rollercoaster.

The Mammoth is a 2822 foot long wooden rollercoaster in Stuttgart. Auer modded his in-line skates specifically for the project. After two months of planning and 110 hours of work to create the 16 wheeled coaster-hugging skates, Auer was ready to roll. He hit the first 98 foot drop, reaching a top speed of 56 mph (same speed as the normal rollercoaster cars normally hit on that track) and covered the half mile long track in 60 seconds. Here’s the wild video:

External Hard Drive in the Shape of an Ice Cream Popsicle

mintpass1 External Hard Drive in the Shape of an Ice Cream Popsicle
We come across plenty of unusual USB flash drives here but rarely are there many external hard drives of interest. Typically they are just a box, maybe with some rounding or minor styling flairs but nothing worth writing home about. So it’s a nice TREAT to find this Mintpass external hard drive in the form factor of a popsicle (or “ice lolly” for our UK friends- a term that’s completely new to me):

Well don’t fret about missing out on your daily dose of USB flash drives because the stick of the ice pop is actually a USB flash drive that you can use to quickly transfer data to and from the hard drive. Unfortunately that means you can make any cool popsicle stick crafts like log cabins and stick figures but you could store plans and pictures of them on the drive.

Looking for a Lighter Chocolate?

thumb

These ordinary looking chocolate squares hold a sinister secret (ok, it’s not THAT sinister, but it’s definitely a secret): They’re lighters! Makes me want to go out and roast up some chocolate covered smores or something. The only thing these chocolates are melting is my mind. It’s totally like blown man, they’re chocolates ...

Metrokane V-Gauge Wine Preserver

thumb

Sometimes when you open a bottle of wine, you can’t or don’t want to finish it. If you just put the cork back in the bottle, the air remaining in the bottle will cause the wine to go bad and turn to vinegar in a really short amount of time. The solution is ...

Elecom Travel Mouse Holds It’s Own Cord

elecom wind up mouse 482x500 Elecom Travel Mouse Holds Its Own Cord
Elecom has just introduced the M-MK1UR mouse, which has a rubber flap that lifts up to hold it’s own wound cord for traveling. Now obviously a wireless mouse would eliminate this problem in the first place but when you’re traveling you don’t always want to take something that depends upon batteries, especially if you plan to be away for a long time. Plus mice with batteries are going to be heavier than a corded USB mouse.

So this is a pretty decent product I think, your mouse’s cord went get all tangled up in your bag when you’re traveling. That always seems to be my biggest problem with unpacking- cord tangling- everything has a cord and I need some many gadgets when I’m on the go and all the chargers are incompatible with one another and it all always ends up just a tangled mess. I usually put each gadget in it’s own ziplock bag to keep it all straight.

Franklin Chair Stepladder

thumb

They say that Benjamin Franklin either invented/designed or discovered this folding chair stepladder. When it’s set up as a chair, the Franklin Chair looks like a simply styled wooden chair. But flip it open and it reveals an ultra-handy stepladder: Most other stepladders you see are designed as a stepladders first and ...
