For one Ohio couple, Scrabble is an outdoor game- a big one. It’s not that unusual to see a giant sized outdoor chess set but for some folks, the love of the famous word game is too strong to resist. Since there’s no giant outdoor Scrabble games sold in stores, they took it upon themselves build their own.

The 8 foot square board is made of 225 pavers laid on a bed of sand. The tile letters were made from craft-store wood plaques and the tile racks from old shelves. The game requires much more physical exertion than typical Scrabble as players have to actually get out of their seats to lay down the tiles on the board. And there’s always the danger or rain… or the dog running across the board.
