Blue Earth is a new phone from Samsung that is being touted as the world’s first solar powered touch screen phone. The entire backside of the phone is a solar panel used to charge it up. It can also be charged conventionally via a cord. The phone itself is made from a recycled plastic called PCM, which is extracted from water bottles.
The touch screen user interface has a one click “eco-mode” which allows for energy efficient usage of screen brightness, backlight duration and bluetooth. The Blue Earth also has a built-in pedometer, so you can calculate how much CO2 you’re saving by walking instead of using a car or other polluting type of transportation and will show you exactly how many trees you’ve save.
