Strange Carafes have to be one of the most bizarre beverage holding contraptions ever. Designed by French designer Etienne Meneau and costing close to $10,000, they are more sculptural than functional. They remind me of tree roots after the soil has been washed away. It looks large and difficult to pour from and it certainly won’t act as an efficient decanter for wine since it doesn’t appear to allow very much air to come in contact with the wine. But it looks good, and that’s important.
