Robotic Duck Takes Pictures of Tourists, Prints Them from His Butt

The Camerautomata Charlie: Image Digesting Robotic Duck is an art project by Taeyoon Choi from South Korea. The duck is placed in various New York City tourist spots. The duck moves around by itself and when it senses the flash from a tourist’s camera, he takes his own picture. The photo is then printed from the duck’s hindquarters or uploaded to the web via WiFi.

The Image Digesting Robotic Duck was made by hacking a digital camera, printer, a Roomba vacuum cleaner, and mp3 player and connecting them by a single microcontroller. The artist refers to the printing process as the duck pooping out a picture.
