The Polite Umbrella from designer JooYoun Paek looks like a normal umbrella initially but has a series of pullstrings in the handle that allow you shrink it up. Designed for those narrow sidewalk situations where you want to avoid the always awkward umbrella raise/lower dance as you pass another person with an umbrella, the Polite Umbrella can make itself tighter in numerous fashions from the whole thing jellyfishing (that’s the actual scientific term) to just one side shriveling up like an aerodynamic jet airplane wing.
