Technology is allowing devices to get smaller and smaller every day. Walkie talkies used to be boxes the size of a brick back in the day. Now they’ve nanotechnologized everything including the walkie talkie. These walkies from Gizoo are wearable on your wrist and have a 1.5 mile range. With the ubiquity of cellphones these days, I’m not sure how useful it is to use a walkie talkie, but I suppose there are certainly situations where your cellphone is out of range or the local towers are overloaded (perhaps at a concert festival setting).
